E-Tandem with Newcastle University starting in March

12.02.2025

Tandem Student

There are 10 available places on our E-Tandem scheme with Newcastle University starting in March. Participants will be paired up with a student from Newcastle with whom they will meet online and in their own time to get to know each other and discuss things that are important to them. If you want to practise your English and intercultural skills and, in return, help an English student improve their German, drop an email to marten.juskan@rub.de by 28 February and join up! Previous participants have found this “a most exciting experience and a very good opportunity to reflect on your own language and culture!”

If you like, you can list some of your hobbies and/or personal interests in your email. This isn't a must, but it might help find a suitable tandem partner for you.

After you've exchanged contact details with your partner, the tandems are supposed to start in March for a duration of at least 6 weeks. We expect the participants to meet for at least 4 hours during that period. The meetings should take place via phone and/or video call using a platform of your choice. Apart from that, there are no restrictions and the participants are free to shape the tandem according to their own preferences. Unfortunately, the tandems cannot be credited, which is why there is no exam or other assessment. The English Department is only responsible for connecting prospective particpants.
